RAILWAY FORMS COMMITTEE TO ENQUIRE INTO THE TRAGIC INCIDENT AT SANTRAGACHI LAST EVENING
Kolkata, 24th October, 2018:
A Committee comprising of Head of the Departments of S.E.Railway has been formed to enquire into the unfortunate incident at Santragachi last evening (23.10.18) due to overcrowding and heavy rush, resulting in death of 2 (two) persons and injury of 12 (twelve) others. The 4 member Committee consists of the Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Principal Chief Engineer, Principal Chief Security Commissioner-cum-IG and Chief Safety Officer, S.E.Railway.
Out of the 12 (twelve) injured persons admitted to Howrah General Hospital last evening, 5 (five) have already been released while 2 (two) persons have been shifted to R.N.Tagore Hospital and 1(one) person has been shifted to SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. The remaining 4 (four) injured persons will be shifted to S.E.Railway Central Hospital, Garden Reach.
Railway authority will bear the entire cost of treatment for the injured passengers. Railway doctors are attending the injured passengers since last evening to provide all necessary support for the treatment being undertaken at the Hospital.
Moreover, the Committee formed to conduct the enquiry will also look into the allegation regarding a change of platform of trains.
