OVERCROWDING AT SANTRAGACHI STATION-TWO DEAD & TWELVE INJURED

Kolkata, 23rd October, 2018:

 

Two persons have died and twelve others suffered injury due to overcrowding and heavy rush at Santragachi Station today evening at about 18.00 hrs.

 

As per latest report, two persons have been declared dead in this unfortunate incident at Santragachi. The list of persons declared dead is given below:-

·Kamla Kant Singh (M-32), S/o Madan Singh

Resident of Raina, Kolaghat, East Midnapur, West Bengal

·Taser Sardar (M-61), S/o Kuran Sardar

Resident of Harihar Para, Nasirpur, Murshidabad, West Bengal

The list of injured persons admitted to Howrah General Hospital is given below:-

·Gouri Hembraham

·Arna Shaw

·Aksha Shaw

·Sk Rahul Amin

·Amrendra Nath Dutta

·AnishShome

·Sk Akramul Haque

·Gournitai Saha

·Silpa Oraon

·Hanumath Shaw

·Kiran Shaw

·Asish Santra

 

Indian Railways has declared compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for death cases, Rs. 1 lakh for grievous injury and Rs. 50 thousand for those who sustained minor injury. Medical expenses for injured passengers will be borne by railway authority.

 

Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal met with the injured persons at Howrah General Hospital and directedfor shifting of o­ne injured person to SSKM Hospital, Kolkata o­n the basis of Doctor’s advice.

 

Addl. General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Divisional RailwayManager, Kharagpur and a team of Railway Doctors are attending the patients at Howrah General Hospital. Railway authority has ordered an enquiry in connection with this unfortunate incident at Santragachi.
