S.E.RAILWAY CONTINUES TO SURPASS RAILWAY BOARD’S LOADING TARGET AND ACHIEVES REMARKABLE GROWTH

 IN LOADING & EARNINGS

Kolkata, 16th March, 2017:

           

            South Eastern Railway during the first eleven months i.e. April to February of the current financial year (2016-17) has loaded 133.80 million tonnes of freight as against 120.87 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 10.70 %. South Eastern Railway has also surpassed Railway Board’s proportionate freight loading target for the first eleven months of 2016-17 by loading 3.73 % more than the target.

            During the first eleven months of current financial year, loading of Iron Ore was to the tune of 77.84 million tonnes which witnessed a growth of 16.72% compared to the same period of last year and 6.95 % over the proportionate target.

 As a result of this remarkable loading performance, South Eastern Railway has generated freight earnings of Rs 10059.03 crores during April-February of current financial year which is Rs 735.09 crores more than the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 7.88 %.
