SER ORGANISES SEMINAR o­n RAILWAY SAFETY (SANRAKSHA SAMVAD) AS A PART OF SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TOWARDS ZERO ACCIDENT MISSION

Kolkata, 15th January 2017:

A Seminar o­n Railway Safety (Sanraksha Samvad) was organized at BNR Auditorium in   S. E. Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach today (15.01.17) for case study of major accidents and to enhance the safety consciousness amongst railway employees. 

Shri S.N. Agrawal, General Manager, South Eastern Railway inaugurated the Seminar and delivered his key-note address elucidating the ways and means of   railway safety. He said that safety should be of paramount importance in railway working and the prime duty of railway men is to remain vigilant with highest alacrity all the time and strictly adhere to the safety norms. He added that though safety performance of S E Railway has been quite satisfactory in recent times but there should be no complacency in this regard and we should concertedly work to make the Zero Accident Mission a reality. He mentioned that image of Railways depends o­n its safety standard and laid stress o­n proper training and counseling of safety category staff. He also spoke about the need of intensive inspection especially during night hours by the Head of Departments, alertness during seasonal fog, constant monitoring of vulnerable areas and maintenance of schedule.   

Organizing such Seminars help railway employees to update their knowledge through exchange of ideas and also to become aware of all safety norms including personal safety to give better service to the railway in specific and rail users at large.

 A large number of safety category staff of all the four Divisions and Headquarters of S E Railway took part in the Seminar to exchange views and enriched them through Interactive Session.

             Shri Anirban Datta, Additional General Manager, Shri S. K. Das, Chief Safety Officer, Shri Harindra Rao, Chief Electrical Engineer and Senior Divisional Safety Officers of the four Divisions of SER also spoke at the Seminar.
