S.E.RAILWAY CONTINUES TO SURPASS RAILWAY BOARD’S LOADING TARGET AND ACHIEVES REMARKABLE GROWTH 

IN LOADING & EARNINGS

Kolkata, 10th January, 2017:

           

            South Eastern Railway during the first nine months i.e. April to December of the current financial year (2016-17) has loaded 109.19 million tonnes of freight as against 97.70 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 11.76 %. South Eastern Railway has also surpassed Railway Board’s freight loading target for the first nine months of 2016-17 by loading 3.97% more than the target.

            During the first nine months of current financial year, loading of Iron Ore was to the tune of 63.95 million tonnes which witnessed a growth of 18.80 % compared to the same period of last year and 7.95% over the target.

 As a result of this remarkable loading performance, South Eastern Railway has generated freight earnings of Rs 8134.25 crores during April-December of current financial year which is Rs 611.13 crores more than the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 8.12 %.
