SER SURPASSES RAILWAY BOARD’S LOADING TARGET

Kolkata, 10th November, 2016 :

South Eastern Railway during the month of October 2016 has loaded 13.13 million tonnes of freight as against 11.39 million tonnes loaded in October 2015 registering an outstanding growth of 15.28%. South Eastern Railway also surpassed Railway Board’s freight loading target for the month of October by 12.99%.

During the first seven months i.e. April to October of the current financial year (2016-17) S E Railway’s cumulative loading has become 84.06 million tonnes which is 7.62 million tonnes more than the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 9.97%.  During the above period loading of Iron Ore was to the tune of 48.79 million tonnes which witnessed a leap jump by 15.13% compared to the same period of last year.

           As a result of this remarkable loading performance, South Eastern Railway has generated freight earnings of Rs 6205.11 crores during April-October of current financial year which is Rs 375.88 crores more than the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 6.45%.
