S E RAILWAY HOLDS 99th ZONAL RAILWAY
USERS’ CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE (ZRUCC)MEETING

The 99thZonal Railways Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Shri A K Goel, General Manager, South Eastern Railway this morning (22/9/2016) at Riveria Hall, Howrah. The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Members representing various fields and diverse interests in train operations and passenger amenities. This included four Hon’ble Members of Parliament viz. Shri Bidyut Baran Mahato, Shri Laxman Giluwa, Shri Rabindra Kumar Jena and Shri Vivek Gupta and one Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly (Jharkhand) Shri Deepak Birua. The other Hon’ble Members came from various places of S E Railway jurisdiction belonging to Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Public and Private Sector Units, Passenger Associations, nominees of Union Ministers etc. Shri Anirban Datta, Addl. General Manager, S E Railway and all the Principal Head of Departments were also present from railway side.
Initially Hon’ble Members were apprised of the performance of the SER and its developmental activities through Power Point Presentation. Hon’ble Members appreciated the efforts of SER to enhance the passenger amenity works and other issues related to train running. The deliberations in the form of suggestions brought forth by the members towards improvement of passenger services were also discussed in cordial manner. Views and suggestions of the members included running of new trains, extension of services, additional stoppages, construction of road over bridges, on-going projects, better passenger services, catering services and other facilities of the passengers at stations and in trains.
Shri A K Goel, General Manager, South Eastern Railway while addressing the Hon’ble Members of ZRUCC said that this railway has over the years primarily been a ‘freight carrying railway’ and carries nearly

11-12% of the total goods traffic transported by Indian Railways. S E Railway has loaded 134.29 million tones of originating freight in 2015-16, which is the highest ever loading of SER after trifurcation. The originating freight earnings crossed Rs.10,000 crore mark after trifurcation. Up to August of current financial year 2016-17, this railway has loaded 59.24 million tones against 54.24 million tones in the same period of the previous year i.e. 9.22% more than last year and originating freight earning was Rs.4320.19 crore, improvement of 3.81% over last year.
GM also said that serious note would be taken on the suggestions and demands by the Hon’ble Members. GM emphasized that SER would initiate actions to address the demands within its competence. He also spoke about the need of Hon’ble Members’ co-operation for better running of train services and overall cleanliness. He also mentioned about the measures taken by SER in regard to passenger amenities, closure of unmanned level crossings, construction of road over bridge, mechanized cleaning at stations & in trains and other topics related to benefits of passengers.
