GENERAL MANAGER INAUGURATES THE AUGMENTED

MECHANISED LAUNDRY- INSPECTS INTENSIVELY AT

SANTRAGACHI FOR OBSERVANCE OF SWACHHTA SAPTAH

Kolkata, 19thSeptember, 2016:

Shri A K Goel, General Manager, South Eastern Railway today (19th September, 2016) inaugurated the augmented Mechanized Laundry at Santragachi and launched a mass awareness drive to keep clean the trains as a part of observance of Swachhta Saptah. Shri R K Mangla, DRM, Kharagpur, Shri J K Saha, Chief Mechanical Engineer and other senior officers and staff were attended and participated in this venture.

General Manager while inaugurating the augmented Mechanized Laundry said that  the setting up of Mechanised Laundry and its augmentation is to improve the quality of linen washing and ironing through modern mechanized automated laundries to reach out to the passengers to serve the cleaner and hygienic bed rolls during journey. Earlier, two tons bed roll was made available from Santragachi i.e. 2,000 packets of bed roll per day. With this augmentation, the capacity of bed rolls have been increased with quantum jump of  6 tons i.e. 6,000 bed rolls per day. The passengers of all originating mail/express trains from Howrah, Shalimar and Santragachi would get improved quality of bed rolls for their comfortable journey. There are still some shortage and S E Railway have been striving along to become self sufficient.

To signify the Swachh Railgaadi (Clean Train) Day, Shri A K Goel, GM, S  E Railway inspected the rakes undergoing maintenance  at Coaching Depot, Santragachi. GM extensively inspected the toilets, pantry cars, lighting arrangements of the coaches etc. GM also brought into use of segregated Bio-degradable and degradable dust bins in pantry cars of S E Railway.

Intensive inspection in trains in all four divisions of S E Railway has been undertaken to keep cleanliness in trains and senior railway officers, staff, S E Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides etc. are deployed to inspect the washing lines, railway yards, checking o­n toilets, quality of linen and cleanliness of pantry cars to ensure clean and healthy journey to the passengers.
