Kolkata, 17thSeptember, 2016:

             Shri A K Goel, General Manager, S E Railway inaugurated  weeklong cleanliness drive- “SWACHH RAIL SWACHH BHARAT” at S E R Head quarters, Garden Reach this morning.

            South Eastern Railway is celebrating Swachhta Saptah from 17th to 25th September to ensure all round cleanliness at its various establishments, stations and trains.

            Swachh Paryavaran (Clean Environment) day has been observed today (17thSeptember) and as a measure of environmental improvement, Shri A K Goel kicked off a number of environmental protection and beautification initiatives.

18th September (Sunday) will be observed as “Swachh Stations” (Clean Stations) day and intensive cleanliness drive will be undertaken at all SER stations.

19th September (Monday) will be observed as “Swachh Railgaadi” (Clean Train) day, when intensive inspection of trains will be undertaken by team of officers and staff to ensure cleanliness o­n board.

To mark 20thSeptember (Tuesday) as “Swachh Neer” (Clean Water) day, intensive inspection of all water installations, water filters, taps etc will be conducted.

21st September (Wednesday) will be observed as “Swachh Parisar” (Clean Complex) day when intensive drive will be undertaken to improve circulating areas and concourse of railway stations.  

To mark 22ndSeptember (Thursday) as “Swachh Sahyog” (Cleanliness Participation) day, cleanliness awareness campaign will be launched at all passenger interface areas.

23rd September (Friday) will be observed as “Swachh Samvad” (Cleanliness Dialogue) day and all the senior officers at head quarters and divisions will participate in seminars o­n sanitation and upkeep of railway stations.

24th September (Saturday) will be observed as “Swachh Samarpan”(Dedication for Ensuring Cleanliness) day by taking out Prabhat Pheries and organising Skits to create and raise cleanliness awareness amongst railway employees and rail users.  

25th September (Sunday) will be observed as “Swachh Aahar” (Clean Food) day to provide clean and hygienic environment at various catering units at stations and pantry cars o­n trains.

Railway officers, staff, voluntary organizations, S E Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides, St. John Ambulance Brigade, charitable institutions, associated NGOs, other stake holders etc. have been participating in this Cleanliness Drive. Poster and painting competition o­n the theme of cleanliness will also be organised in schools and institutions.
