SHRI R.K.GUPTA, G M , EASTERN RAILWAY HAS TAKEN OVER ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF GENERAL MANAGER, SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

 

Kolkata, October 31, 2015:

Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway has taken over the additional charge of General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Kolkata after superannuation of Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager S E Railway o­n 31-10-2015.

Earlier, he had also looked after the charge of General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway & N.F. Railway (Construction), Guwahati.

          Shri R. K. Gupta joined as General Manager, Eastern Railway o­n 20th March 2014.  He graduated in Civil Engineering in 1977 with Hons. from erstwhile University of Roorkee (now IIT/Roorkee) and holds Masters Diploma in Public Administration.  He is a Fellow from Institution of Engineers (India), Institute of Engineering & Technology (UK), Institution of Permanent Way Engineers(India), Indian Council of Arbitration, Member of AIMA, Associate Member of American Society of Civil Engineers (USA) and Chartered Engineer from Institution of Engineers.

          An Officer of 1977-batch of Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE), he worked in various important posts in different parts of the country.  Before posting as GM, he worked as Managing Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) – a mega infrastructure rail project of 3300 Route KM costing approx. o­ne lakh crores and funded by World Bank and JICA. As Chief Administrative Officer, he headed India’s prestigious and challenging Rs.19,500 crores ‘National Project’ – Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) in Jammu &Kashmir, which is considered to be world’s o­ne of the most difficult projects in terms of logistics & terrain and majority of the alignment passes through long tunnels and very high & long bridges.  For successful completion of the project in Kashmir Valley, Hon’ble PM thrice sanctioned cash awards in recognition of service.  Other important postings had been Principal Chief Engineer of North Eastern Railway, Divisional Railway Manager of Lucknow Division and Executive Director in the Ministry of Railways.

          He has published several technical papers concerning railway bridges & track in various magazines and delivered lectures extensively in various Civil Engineering and related areas in India and abroad. He was also associated with various Expert Groups.  He visited almost all the countries in Europe apart USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore for training/study visits/ conferences, etc.

He was conferred with ‘Eminent Engineer’s Award’ by Institution of Engineers in 2013.  He has also been conferred with prestigious National“Chanakya Award” for Business Excellence in Public Sector and Good Governance by PRCI in 2015 at New Delhi.
